Vertilux at the 30th National Gala of The Ireland Funds

This past week, Dr. John McKeon, CEO of Allergy Standards (ASL) of Ireland and their team of amazing doctors and professionals extended a truly significant invitation to Vertilux. On the night of Wednesday, March 16, Alex García, President of Vertilux, participated as a special guest at the 30th Annual National Gala of The Ireland Funds at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

But how we got here has been a long journey, which we cannot stop talking about.

Let's go back, for a moment, to the year 1985.

This is the year in which Vertilux, with only three years in the Window Covering Industry, launches the vertical blinds fabric that has remained among the best sellers year after year. Itaca, made from 100% recycled cotton, was a starting point for Vertilux on a long path of discovery and development of healthy, ecological, and friendly products for the manufacturing of blinds and shades.

Almost a decade later, in 1994, Vertilux developed and began offering the collection of screen fabrics Polyscreen® Vision, that are antibacterial, antifungal, and with all the certifications that endorse them as one of the healthiest options for screen shades for interior and exterior spaces.

In 2014, Vertilux launched a new family of ecological fabrics, The Planet collection, made from recycled plastic bottles, and with a composition that was not only environmentally conscious, having the Cradle to Cradle™ Bronze certification, but also completely healthy.

These have been three truly relevant and significant moments in Vertilux's journey to offer the highest quality solutions to the industry.

Since its foundation, it has been Vertilux's philosophy to bet on solutions that, without neglecting the aesthetic and decorative aspect, contribute to creating healthy living spaces, free of harmful chemical substances, or additives that contribute to the proliferation of dust mites, fungi or bacteria that cause allergies or other chronic respiratory problems.

With the purpose of continuous improvement of our philosophy, just a couple of years ago we started working with the Allergy Institute Standards (ASL), of Ireland, to certify Vertilux blinds and shades and in 2021, the Polyscreen® Vision and Eco Planet FR collections received the ASL Verified Component distinction. Until now, the category of Blinds and Shades did not exist as part of that certification.

We cannot be more grateful and happy for the close and fruitful relationship that has emerged between ASL and Vertilux. Thanks to Dr. John McKeon and his team for all the advice and collaboration to continue presenting you the best of the best in the market.

The Ireland Funds is one of the of the largest private donors to the not-for-profit sector in Ireland and was established in 1976 for Friends of Ireland from around the world to constructively express their goodwill through private philanthropy for the benefit of the island of Ireland.

The 30th Annual National Gala of The Ireland Funds has been the most successful in the event’s history so far, raising over $1 million for charitable causes across the island of Ireland. The event celebrates and recognizes each year the political, cultural, business and philanthropic achievements of the Irish diaspora and further supports the work that The Ireland Funds conducts throughout the island of Ireland.

Joe Biden, President of the United States, and Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, whose families proudly boast their Irish ancestry, also attended the event.
